2 The defendant herein called as a witness on his
3 own behalf was sworn and testified as follows:
4 THE CLERK: Please raise your right hand.
5 You do solemnly state that the testimony you
6 shall give in this issue or matter shall be the truth the
7 whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you God.
8 THE WITNESS: I do.
9 THE CLERK: State your full name for the record and
10 spell your last name please.
11 THE WITNESS: My name is Jeffrey Craig Canada, last
12 name is C-a-n-a d-a, like the country. I go by J. Craig.
13 Craig Canada.
14 THE COURT: Mr. Canada you are aware that under the
15 Constitution you have a right against self-incrimination?
16 THE DEFENDANT: Yes, I do.
17 THE COURT: You understand by taking the stand and
18 testifying on your own behalf, you open yourself up to
19 cross-examination that may be incriminating?
20 THE DEFENDANT: Yes.
21 THE COURT: Based on that, sir, do you waive that
22 right of self-incrimination for purposes of testifying
24 THE DEFENDANT: Yes.
